WINDRIDER
ROLE: GAME DESIGNER

HARDCORE ADDICTIVE
Windrider is hard.

The game was designed as a difficult arcade game with simple controls. All you needed was the mouse, yet the complexity of how you approached the levels gave rise to the addictive game play that Windrider is known for.
Rising tension
Each level in Windrider introduced a new main puzzle type that players had to overcome. Wind turbines, cannons, tracking cannons are all part and parcel of the game experience.

As players ascend the level tree, they will feel rewarded for completing them, and figuring out new ways to overcome puzzles simultaneously!

A LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Windrider was not just a random game project. It was an exploration into how we view game controls.

In most games, players have grown so familiar with direct control of their characters. What if we had to control them indirectly? A few games does this, however not many stress on the difficulties of losing direct control and playing on this gimmick.
WORK IN PROGRESS: RESEARCH AND INSPIRATIONS

GETTING OVER IT
One of the biggest quick hits of the gaming world, Getting Over It featured simple controls which still allowed for highly skilled game play.

It was very addictive, and making it up to higher points felt ultimately rewarding. It was a game where progression was not tied to hard numbers, rather the cap of your own skill and practice.
