EXALE

TYPE: PLAYTESTING

THE

PURPOSE

Exale is a 2D platformer puzzle game involving traversal abilities. I was part of a team in charge of playtesting and generating user reports to improve the game's development.

A detailed report was then created and passed on to the developers.

REALTIME

OBSERVATIONS

Playtester faces, emotions and reactions were observed and analyzed to find critical points.

We observed the reactions closely, identifying at which points did user reactions change, where they did not and such. This gave us the clarity on how engagement within the game works, as well as pain points.

WIDE BREADTH

Testing was done vigorously covering a wide breadth of mechanics and systems, from playability to engagement, done with players sourced according to our target demographics.

Problems that were not apparent during development were quickly found and reported.

Organized

Feedback

Issues and recommendations were organized neatly into severity levels in an easily readable format which helped the development team to easily extract information.

Concise direction

Feedback was presented back in a easy-to-digest form that highlights the key information gathered.

The raw transcripts were wordy and detailed. As a contrast, we came up with ways to relay the feedback better in easier to digest forms such as Powerpoint, and also sat down and talked to the development team and ran through the points.
